My 4 yr old is very emotional, angry, hyperactive, bad behavior?

My son is 4 years old. He acts out all the time and my husband and I don't understand his behavior.
He his extremely jealous over his little sister who is 2. He hits her and squeezes her face. I dont know where he learned this from. He's not around any kind of violence. When he gets mad about something that isnt going his way he will throw something and cry.
Everyday he is extremely hyper and its hard to keep up with him. He's constantly getting into trouble. Doing things he knows he's not supposed to do.
We tried time out, taking away toys, and light spanking. Nothing seems to work.
He is extremely sensitive and anal about the smallest things. For instance he doesn't like his food "broke" as he calls it..Like a sandwich cut in half, or his banana peel all the way off. If its "broke" he wont touch it. He will cry and throw a fit.
I'm not sure what to do at this point? I want him to grow up to not do these things that he does.
Does anyone know what? why?

It will pass, jealousy is a very normal in older children used to being the only one, they feel usurped and hurt, very often they see baby getting the attention that was all theirs. Sometimes they regress back to wetting and behaving in a baby like manner, even speaking in baby words. He is upset, make sure you and his Dad give him one to one time , so he knows he is still special to you ,you say you have meeted out punishments even spanking ,which in fact makes the issue worse and you are teaching him hitting is okay so he will do it to his sister .Focus on his positive side and praise him when you see him doing something right .good luck
