Why is My 4 yr. old acting out?

I have a 4 yr. old daughter who is very smart. She is an only child and mom and dad work full-time jobs while she goes to a church based pre-school.She was in a class of younger 4 yr olds and her behavior was excellent but she was not stimulated enough so we moved her to the older 4 yr old class. She does excellent with her work but has started talking back, not listening, and making noises and rolling all over the place during quiet/nap time. She is constantly in yellow and ignores me while I am talking to her.I have tried time out,no toys, sending her to bed etc..Nothing gets through to her.I get notes sent home daily and even phone calls asking me to talk to her.I don't have a clue what to do..Any suggestions offerred is appreciated.

Sounds like she is irritable in school.  Ultimately, it is the school's job to be able to control their classroom and all different types of personalities that children have.  If you are not in the classroom, there is no way that you can control her behavior there.  You can talk to her all you can at home, but once she's away and in school that's a different story.  The teacher will need to come up with something to help her to behave in school.  Have a talk with her teacher and ask if she is bored in school.  She may not feel challenged with her school work and as a result is acting out.  Her mind needs to be kept busy and if things are too easy, she will become irritable and act out.
