3 year and 7 month child does not speak clearly

My 3 year and 7 month child does not speak clearly so far. He feels problem in expressing himself. One year back doctor suggested that he is mentally slow. What should I do?

I am 20 years old guy. I face problem while speaking a lot of words.
like i spell Both "pent" and "paint" same.
I think my tongue is not as much free as it should be when i compare it with other people tongue.
I couldn't touch my tongue to my upper mouth.
suggest me what is the problem and what the solution could be?

my son is 2yrs and 6 months who is able to label everything correctly but seems delayed in forming sentences.  Another concern is he does not miss anyone ie all the family members whom he is attached to.

I'd rule out anything physical (like mouth formation problems, being tongue tied, teeth issues) and also have his hearing checked--hearing problems can cause speech issues, too.  Then I'd see if speech therapy is a possibility.  Can you have him evaluated--to see if there are any other issues with him?

My son didn't speak clearly for quite a while (he spoke later than other kids his age)--then when he did start speaking, he couldn't say his "r's" and he had a lisp.  He speaks clearly and has a great vocabulary now.

Seek guidance from a healthcare professional if you can.  If none is available, I would gently work with him on letter formations and sounds--if he struggles with a certain sound, find a saying or tongue twister that he can say that will help him work on the sound while having fun.  Take turns coming up with words to say together with the sound you want to work on.  Don't criticize or give him a hard time if he can't form a word or sound or won't try, just praise him when he does well.
