I believe it is all relative regarding the condition of your arteries.  If they already are showing signs of accumulating plaque, control of lipids should be much more important.  For example, I've had a heart history of heart attacks, blockages, etc., so my cardiologist wants my ldl to show less than 75 and wants my hdl above 50.  As Arijon comments, you are pretty young to have a big problem, but I'm an advocate that if you have the financial means, a nuclear stress test done by the time you are 40 or 45 could be source of information when you are older to see the condition of your arteries.  As to a heart-healthy diet, if you smoke, stop.  Smoking almost is a guarantee that you will have heart trouble.  Stay away from fast foods like burgers, etc.  It is a huge topic, and one best addressed by a dietician.
Keep us informed.

You may get a misleading result by using that calculator.

First of all,  that calculator is giving you that 1% risk for a "event" within 10 years.
Meaning like a heart attack.
However you are only 35 years old.   That is the reason your risk is so low.  Very few individuals get a heart attack before age 45.
Additionally the calculator is not set up, as it indicates,  to give accurate 10 year risks for a 35 year old.

But even with that,  if you look down further, while your 10 year risk may only be 1%,   depending on the numbers you put in,  your lifetime risk for cardiovascular disease is more like 50%  whereas the same risk for a optimal 50 year old is only 5%.

I can't say exactly because I don't know all the numbers you put into the calculator.

Clearly with a cholesterol of 240 and ldl of 159,   you should be taking steps to aim for better health.   Otherwise in the next 25 to 50 years,  you will stand a good chance of heart disease and possibly a heart attack.

Do all you can to improve your diet over the next 2 months.
I'm sure you'd really prefer to not have to take a statin for the next 40 years.
Do you know what steps to take to improve your diet?

Your TC is high at 240 and your LDL is also high at 159, however the new Cholesterol Treatment Guidelines recommend an LDL under 190 so in that case you would not qualify for meds. There is also an additional guideline that will assess your risk factor which takes into account your overall condition. Your blood sugar has you at the borderline of high and that along with your high cholesterol are risk factors but your overall risk includes other factors as well. Here is the link, you can check it for yourself. If your risk is over 7.5% you will qualify for meds;

http://clincalc.com/Cardiology/ASCVD/PooledCohort.aspx

Some doctors are still using the old guidelines of treating an LDL over 130 so under that you would most likely have meds recommended. The choice is yours, just discuss it with your doctor.
