Doctors say we can't go ahead with the liver transplant operation?

My mom's diagnosed with liver cirrhossis and the doctor said that liver transplant is the only option. Even though I'm willing to donate my liver they say that her body in the present condition might not survive the operation and she might die of complications. I feel helpless and I seriously don't know what to do. The other day I wash at the hospital and we were talking when she suddenly stopped talking and just looked in one direction and wasn't responding to me at all. At that time I felt very scared and thought she died there and then. I called the nurse who talked to her and then she became conscious again. Looking at her present condition I don't think she can survive much longer but I can't even go ahead with the transplant. I'm stuck and feeling confused. I'll just post her medical details below..
INR 2.74
PTT 23.4
Creatinine 1.70
Sodium 130
Potassium 3.5
Cloride 89
Ammonia 56
Platelets 80000
Bilirubin 2.7
Albumin 3.2
Can somebody give me any advice on this matter. Should I believe the doctor?

So sorry to hear about your mom’s condition.

Unfortunately a liver transplant is a very difficult procedure to undergo and as her doctor has said that due to her overall health she may not survive the procedure. While you are willing to offer her a part of your liver it would be unethical for them to put you at great risk for your own health when your mother is in poor health and may not survive.

The episode you mom had is likely hepatic encephalopathy it is a symptom of advanced liver disease. It is related to her elevated ammonia test result. I assume she is taking lactulose which causes bowel movement but also help to reduce ammonia leveled in her blood.

The tests you listed are related to her advanced liver disease and would be common for someone in her position.

How old is your mother does she have any other health conditions like heart disease or breathing problems? I think the max age for a transplant is 65 but it may be a little older. But if she has other serious medical conditions sadly that would rule her out for being a candidate for transplant.

If her doctor is a hepatologist associated with a liver transplant center they probably know what they are talking about but you can always ask for a second opinion or possible ask this doctor why she is not elligible.

Unless they can get her into a better medical condition she will still be ineligible for transplant. Sadly if that is the case there is little to be done except to keep her comfortable

Best to you and your family at this difficult time
