CT scan

I went to the ER recently with a kidney stone and had a CT scan. Weeks later after reading the results is saw a notation of “Subtle contour nodularity” in regards to my liver. The distortion did not mention these findings even after I asked him if everything other than the kidney stone looked fine. All of my blood work is normal. Does this mean I might have a serious liver condition that this doctor has overlooked?

Thank you in advance to anyone who might answer this question.

What kind of doctor are you seeing?

Is there a reason to suspect any liver condition?

Only a doctor can answer your question if in doubt get a second opinion or ask your doctor to explain your test result to you.

The doctor at the ER who ordered the scan because of a kidney stone saw the results and did not comment on that finding. The urologist who I saw after and my GP did not mention it either. The reason I am concerned is if you google “ Subtle contour nodularity” it seems to be describing cirrhosis. Yearly blood work is normal as usual. So I guess there is no reason to suspect a liver condition other than the findings in the CT scan.
You might want to speak with a gastroenterologist they specialize in all matters of the abdomen I would think a urinary doctor should be well versed in abdomen too. Did you ask your doctor or just assume because they didn’t saw anything about it.

I would ask your doctor specifically if it is meaningful if you haven’t or if in doubt ask a gastroenterologist or a hepatologist (liver specialist)
One thing you could do is have a fibroscan test. This is a non invasive test similar to an ultrasound except the device produces a sort of thump which can estimate liver stiffness (fibrosis aka scarring) A Fibroscan can estimate if you have any liver scarring and to what degree. There is also a blood test called a Fibrosure that can also estimate liver fibrosis.

Best of luck
I have an appointment with my gp tomorrow morning and I’m going to ask him about it. I don’t know if I’m wasting my time and should go straight to a gastro, but we’ll see how it goes.
Well hopefully your primary care doctor can check it out and maybe just confer with a gastro to save you an additional appointment
Thank you for taking the time to talk to me about this. :)
