Liquid Intake Generally?

Hi all,
I drink about 4 16oz of bottle water daily.  Also have a cup of coffee or two per day.  I have seen some info that too much liquid intake is not good.  Is there a general rule of how much liquid to intake daily?  I assume that the info about not taking too much liquid may be due to inciting ascities or other edema??  I don't see my new hepatologist until Jan 24 at which time I will query her but in the meantime was wondering about this.  Mainly because in the past I have become dehydrated from not drinking enough fluids daily.  As mentioned, I drink 4 bottle of water per day, plus 1-2 cups of coffee, and usually a nightly 8oz protein shake.
Any input appreciated...

Best to all..........jettt

Ascities is caused by too much sodium (salt) in your diet not water. You should be drinking a normal daily water intake inl ss your doctor has said to restrict your water intake.

Generally it is not a concern unless you have pronounced ascities that looks like you are pregnant and need to be drained.

Thank you flyinlynn.  I appreciate the info.  I'm making a list of questions for my doc visit in Jan 2024 and this one will be on it.

t is important to drink around 6-8 cups of fluid a day to help prevent constipation and dehydration, unless you have been given a fluid restriction by your doctor.
