Cold sore are not genetic - they are caused by the herpes simplex virus.

Hey, I think I know what you mean.  My 3 year old daughter has a tiny white blister on her upper lip.  It just showed up about 1 1/2 months ago, and it doesn't seem to cause her any pain at all.  I guess it could be a cold sore, but this isn't a sore....it's just a tiny white blister.  I hope it goes away on it's own.  I will ask her Dr. next time I go in with the kids.  I'll let you know what I find out, and please do the same for me!

I agree with Phil. However, typically cold sores are genetic. Therefore if no one in your immediate family gets them, then you probably won't either. Cold sores do tend to go away rather slowly, and are very painful at times.

I would keep a close eye on it.
