Hi. New studies show that the presence of an ICD poses insignificant risks to a pregnant woman or her fetus. Experts suggest that prohibiting pregnancy in patients with an ICD is unreasonable unless the decision is based on the underlying cardiac status and severity of the structural heart disease. If vaginal delivery is anticipated, the ICD should remain active as it poses no additional risks. To know more about ICD, consult your physician. Thanks for asking.
I have seen programs on the TV about women with a ICD who have babies, so I'm sure it's possible.
One woman, in particular, had a BiV-CRT in her chest and she gave birth to two healthy babies.
So, it might take a special doctor, but I'm sure it's possible.
I hope all the best for you.
