Occasional Heart Fluttering

Is it bad if your heart occasionally flutters. I don't know if this is what its called but sometimes I have a weird feeling in my heart.  I don't really know how to describe it. I guess its kinda like a hard or fast beat or something that lasts for like 1-5 seconds.  I just had an EKG and the doctor said it was normal, but I don't know why my heart does this every once in a while.

i agree with momto about the pvc's   however during some of my own research i found that high caffine and sugar intake can contribute to this. so can stress and anxiety. i guess what im saying is. if its to much of a nusance. eliminate caffine and alot of sugar from your diet. you may get results.  if not talk to your doctor. thares a few medications out thare that will fix that problem aswell. assuming its not an effect of some ather condition ofcourse.

It sounds like you might have PVCs and/or PACs.  These are extra contractions originating from the heart that make it feel like we are skipping beats.  It often presents like a fluttering sensation, and is very common.  Once you know you have a structurally normal heart, these types of ectopic (extra) beats are considered benign.  If you have heart disease, they can be more significant.  Be sure to talk with your doctor on your next visit....I am not a doctor, but have had palpitations for many years and they tend to come and go, increase in frequency, decrease in frequency....sometimes no rhyme or reason.  Take care.
