It really sounds good. I'm glad you and the other guy both tested, it is so difficult for people to really feel comfortable when only one person tests. Glad for you.
Annie
Hello Annie,
We just received the results from Ravgen, so it took 6 business days from my test to get results. Over 99% probability that I am the father and less than 1% the other guy. This is the result that I / we wanted.
I asked the Ravgen employee about false positives and they said they have only had two that they are aware of. In both cases they only tested on potential father. After researching the results of both cases the men had the same ethnic background or they were distant relatives.
I feel confident in the results and will sleep easier tonight. I want to enjoy this process with my gf. That being said I will still have a paternity test after the birth and post the results here. Thanks for all the support you give everyone here.
I haven't seen any posts saying Ravgen was slow, only about a different lab. But one person had posted about having to get more samples when she was testing with Ravgen.
Hi, Surprise, that I don't know. Sometimes women post on the site that they have gotten their results very fast, like a couple of weeks, and other times they mention a different lab and say their results took longer. I think it partly depends on whether there was enough DNA in the sample (sometimes the lab requests more samples).
Annie,
We did a prenatal paternity test with Ravgen this week. My gf went in on Monday. The other guy and I did our mouth swabs on Tuesday. If the samples are all good how long do the results normally take?
Thanks for the advice. I think we will get another sonogram early next week and if the dates are still close we will have a prenatel paternity test done.
The chances of the other guy being the dad are less than of you being the dad, especially since he used a condom, but given the information you have, they are not zero. It would help a lot to get a second ultrasound for dating purposes, to see if it tends to rule him out.
In your shoes, I'd get another ultrasound (from the same technician as before or possibly a different one) first, and if it does not clarify anything, I'd do a prenatal DNA test from Ravgen or the DDC with you and the other guy both providing samples. The first option is a lot cheaper, start with it and do it very soon. Tell them that your girlfriend's cycles are irregular, and you'd like the due date to be based only on the developmental markers of the embryo and its crown-to-rump length.
We know her LMP was Aug 28 (even though the doctors put it at Sep 8). She should have been ovulating between the Sep 11 - 17. I would think conception happened between the 13th - 17th. The doctor is giving us a conception date of the 22nd. Maybe I'm not understanding the doctor's dates correctly. The 22nd date is so close the 23rd that it makes me extremely nervous.
Why did you think you would be at 8 weeks by now?
Thank you for the reply. Sonographer said around 7 weeks they didn't break it down by days.
She was 7 weeks 0 days when she had the sonogram? Or just "You're around 7 weeks"?
