I am a 38 year old woman who suffers from extreme anxiety. I have been wearing full upper dentures for 14 years. I have not been soaking them like i should have over the past 10 years and I have also been sleeping with them overnight for the past 10 years. I went to the dental clinic 2 years ago and the resident noticed lesions at the roof of my mouth when the dentures were removed. She said they were red and inflamed. She told me to rinse with salt water and keep them out overnight. I did this for approximately 2 weeks and begin to follow my poor routine again of not removing them at night. Just a few days ago I went to the same facility (2 years later). When I removed the dentures the dentist said he saw red areas on top of yeast or fungal infection at the roof of my mouth. He said it was odd because he usually see this in patients with autoimmune disorders. He prescribed a perscription for antifungal rinse and a solution to soak my dentures over night. Does this sound like oral cancer or lupus or the beginning of hiv. Should I go and get tested for these things and can it be normal to have a fungal infection under the denture and still be healthy. I am very worried.
