Denture relining question

My sister got dentures a couple years ago but only wore them briefly because they hurt so badly.  If she has them relined, does she need to wear them for awhile  before the appt. so it is clear where the bad spots are or is that unnecessary?  I don't want to waste the appointment but I don't want to put her through unnecessary pain either.  Thanks!

Your sister does not have to wear her dentures before she sees the dentist.

But do take the dentures to the dentist with you.  She will be able to tell the dentist where the problem is when at the dentist.

If it is the same dentist that you are going to, hopefully he will do it for free, or reduce the cost if you explain that she has not been wearing them because of the discomfort.  But as it has been 2 years ago, it is unlikely, but still worth trying.

In future, if there is a problem with dentures, you need to get back to the dentist as soon as possible so that the problem can be corrected.

Best wishes.

Relining  is not a cure for poorly made denture.seeing a competent prosthodontist is advised.
