12 year old very different

My 12 year old son has always been moody, negative, angry and short fused. He isn't growing out of it. Teachers and coaches always bring up his bad attitude and negativity. He doesn't respect most people and talks back. One psychiatrist several years ago said he was depressed and wanted to put him on antidepressants. At the time I felt he was too young. He also seems slow at learning things but once he does he retains the information. He was tested by a child psychologist who said he had "executive function" issues. He is currently in junior high and not doing well socially. He is struggling and this is causing more issues. We have spent a lot of time and invested a lot of resources trying to help him. Could medication be the answer?

Yes you could discuss this with a psychiatrist
but in addition cognitive behavioral therapy
can be helpful as well. Also schools have
supports and services for students
with disabilities and they should
be willing to work him as well
and it would be worthwhile to find the appropriate
department and discuss how they could best assist him
in an integrated education plan.
