Anti Social

Being really anti social has always been a problem for me. But the more my therapist and family try to gradually introduce me into being social again, the scarier it becomes for me.
What should I do? I have a small group of friends that I am comfortable with, but they aren't "enough" for my family. My family views these people as losers, when these people are supporting themselves the hard way, not by relying on their family to support them through college before getting a real job. I enjoy my friends, but I can't be around many other people, like my old friends that I went to school with, or large groups of people that I used to socialize with. What do I do?

If you are comfortable around the people you know, and like, that is enough.  Don't be swayed by others telling you to be more sociable.  This will cause you distress.  Don't they understand this.
Carry on as you are, you are doing well.

Baby steps..do you have a job? or go to school? Make a goal for the day like talk to someone new, or give someone a compliment.  Little things like that until you are comfortable in light conversation.  THen try and talk a little more and build your way back up to being social...just take little baby steps

What scares you the most about being social with other people?

How old are you?
