Schizophrenia

I am curious to this question, If someone does not have any family background of schizophrenia and they are the only 1% of the population that gets schizophrenia anyways, how can it be just genetic? This is depressing. How can they prove that a child has 30 40 or 60 percent chance of getting this disease? Because I sopposedly had schiz now I find out whether or not I have it I probably can't adopt and they say I should not have kids. Now I find out I probably will not be able to adopt eventhough I would be good for a kid even better than some mothers are just because of that diagnosis.  I found that  possibly I only have a sleep problem hypnogogic hallutionations with lack of sleep eventhough I appear to be asleep that nerve/ sleep meds stop the problems. Did you know that people can get addicted to antipsychotics and the withdrawel symptoms are the same symptoms as the illness exept the muscle aches, cramps and throwing up. I do not have any answers for any of these questions and it seems a wee bit depressing. Thanks

Yes, I honestly think that my first diagnosis was wrong.

So do you think perhaps you were mis-diagnosed?
