Side effects of Venlafaxine withdrawal

I started taking venlafaxine for the sudden onslaught of menopausal symptoms caused by my hysterectomy.  The hot flashes were constant and unbearable. It worked wonders!  I never had and symptoms of depression before, during or after using the venlafaxine.  However, the one withdrawal symptom I am experiencing is the 'buzzing' in my head - or 'brain shift' as I call it.

Despite not having any depression / emotional symptoms, if I am destined to live with this maddening effect for the rest of my life, it could seriously lead to depression.  I wish I was kidding.

Does this side effect of discontinuation persist?  Will it eventually go away?  Is there some other treatment (preferably non-prescription) that will lessen it?  I told my doctor about it and he just shrugged. (Typical, I'm afraid, of most doctors) which is why I am scouring the web for information.

If anyone has any suggestions, I will be more than grateful.

Thanks

You say you have withdrawn from Effexor.  The feeling you are getting is a symptom of the withdrawal and will eventually dissipate.  I don't know how long it will last for you.

There are many postings on this site about Effexor withdrawal symptoms, and they are varied and can last a short or long time.  Different for everybody.  Some people have really bad withdrawals, so you are doing well.  I do hope you withdrew really slowly, as if you do it too fast, you will get these many and varied withdrawal symptoms.

I was one of the lucky ones as I withdrew over several months and got no withdrawal symptoms at all.  I think you are lucky that you have only had the brain buzzing, and I am sure they will eventually go away.  I have always taken supplements with anti depressants, and I don't know if that helped.  I am not sure what you can do to lessen the b uzzing, as it is just your body adjusting to being without the medi8cation.

Hope it eases soon.

Try a healthy dose of fish oil.  How long has it been since you came off the drug, and how quickly did you come off it?

Hi Not sure if you mean tinnitus, coming off medication quickly can cause this. A lady in our support group has it I don't think she has it none stop.
I too came off 150mg's of venlafluxine I am surprised you haven't got any other symptoms.
Do hope the buzzing goes !
Take care
