Look up on this website for depression. It pretty much states that if you have been sad for more than 2 weeks then it probably is depression. Depression takes away your ability to enjoy life, like reading, television, movies, etc. You you don't want to be with people even your family. You pretty much isolate yourself. Every day chores like getting out of bed and taking a shower is a monumental feat in of itself. You can't concentrate on your studies, or even take care of your pets. All you want to do is sleep and you cry because of the tremendous amount of pain and guilt. Plus your family and friends sometimes don't believe you and call you lazy, because they think you have the blues.
There are so many thoughts and changes that go on during depression, you really should look up that list here on this website.
If you feel that you have depression and anxiety go seek professional help immediately before it it too late.
Don't listen to anyone that tells you otherwise because you and only you know how you are feeling and how much you are suffering and what you can longer do. Basically you lose interest in life.
Find a good psychiatrist and let him start you on some meds. It will be trial and error and will take some time. So be patient. While this is going on talk to a counselor and try to sort out your feelings.
The only thing wrong with people with depression is that their brain chemistry is out of whack and when your doc finds the right med for you then you will start to feel better. In the meantime try to exercise even if it is for only 5 minutes a day.
Hope this helps,
Angela
There is a difference between feeling depressed and MD (Major Depression or clinical depression)
When you're feeling depressed, its often because of criticism, or a bad day. When you feel you have no motivation or effort. This usually only lasts a few hours.
Where as Major Depression is when you have experienced at least 2 of these symptoms for more than 2 weeks; Suicidal thoughts, reduced sex drive, low motivation, lack of interest in things that used to interest you, insomnia, feelings of worthlessness, inappropriate guilt or regret, helplessness, hopelessness, and self-hatred. Left untreated, MD can end in suicide.
Mood swings,feeling unhappy,sad,no motivation,not socializing.
