I volunteer in a homeless shelter for street people and wouldn't wish that life on anyone. How will you support yourself and where would you live if you run out of cash? Lots of homeless people did not complete high school so are unable to support themselves.

If you are 15 there is very little employment available even in good times. You will be a high school dropout competing with a large pool of similar people for few work opportunities.

Do you like school? Are you male?

Write back with more info.

Running away from home is never a good idea as young people who do this get into dangerous situations and can be victimized. Please advise them of that. However, there is always a reason it occurs. If that person feels that are being abused or in danger they should call Child Protective Services immediately. There are also a variety of shelters if someone needs to leave but not as many as there should be. A person faces very real danger. But what they want to leave may appear just as bad and if it is they should be in touch with Child Protective Services. They need not call from home but can speak to the counselor in their school who is a mandated reporter for child abuse and will call for them and Child Protective Services will address the issue of the abuse. I know that's the primary reason for running away from home. If there is another reason let me know what it is and I could give you advice on how it could be solved in another less drastic manner.
