Losing faith in medicine

I have BPD and Bipolar disorder and have been on Lithium, Trazadone, Tegretol, Prozac, Zoloft, Lamictal, Seroquel, Ambien, and Abilify.

They seem to work but they still don't stop the cycles enough, I'll have more okay days but will have two or three depressed or manic, all within a week. That's not counting the anxiety attacks that make me dissociate. I am on Ambien now and have been for 3 months but it's not as effective anymore, I'll take it at 10 then be awake in bed till past 2 A.M.

I tried Seroquel when I was a teen and it was too strong at the time, is it worth looking into again not that I'm 10 years older? Is there a better mood stabilizer I should try? I'm not on an anti-depressant with the Mood stabilizer, should I ask my doctor about one?

If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate the input.

Sounds like you have some great ideas. I would say talk to your doctor and ask these questions to him/her. There are a lot of good mood stabilizers out there, so maybe giving them a try but i think you should discuss this with your doctor, as they can help the most in this area.

I know its hard getting the right combo of meds, i hope you work something out with your doctor, hold on a bit longer.

Good Luck

The Seroquel might be worth another try now that you're older. Maybe starting with a smaller dose this time.
