Dear Life. Oh my ! How very tragic. It happened to me too. My fur baby, Come Here Batman got her spine crushed by a dog. Rushed her to the vet. Brought her home on iv drip. Later that night she died in my arms.
I got in shower & shrieked and cried out loud for seems like ever.
It was so bad. About a week later I was still grieving so much. A neighbor suggested I get involved in a Foster program. The director brought a mom with kittens over that week. You watch the kittens while mom goes in for spay surgery. Then care for her when she gets home making sure kittens don't get too rough. It's so much work. But it did take my mind off of the misery of my loss. A few months later I adopted one of the moms. The foundation has good luck with the formal adoption of the kittens if you do your fostering and make them good little citizens.
If it helps, talk about what happened. How long you had your cat. Favorite food. Ect. Plus the cat forum has a special poem. It's so moving it brought me to tears reading it. It will help to cry. Cry. Cry. Much love. Maxy
Thank you Maxy. Jake was 12 and died from a horrible blood clot. Its not easy at all to talk about this. Sorry for you loss as well.

You're a good friend to Jake having him with you 12 years. Hope you can remember all the good times after the grieving process. I'm sure he misses you too.
Hey there I see you are pretty shaken up about your cat. I had a cat named bella. She was 7 and was about to have a litter of kittens. She was hit by a car. I had to personally bury her. The saddest part was my other cat knowing she was gone crying everyday. So wierd how animals have feelings like that. With that said your cat died peacefully in your arms. Probably wouldn't want to go out any other way. 12 years is a good cat life. There was nothing you can do :(
Sorry but I came across this post when searching for more info. Had to say something!
