Personality paranoid disorder

I think my husband has ppd.. He's always negative towards me and life, counterattacks everything I say, controls what I wear, can't critise him otherwise he will get angry, no sex at all, everything always my fault, mood swings, feels unworthy ie not achieved anything in life, feels he is behind in life in terms of status to his friends, does what he wants when he wants, no feel of responsibility. Is this ppd or something else?

With the family history you should encourage him to see a psychiatrist or family doctor.

Thanks. More worried as his father has schizophrenia and onset was in early 30's.. So let's hope all is not too bad!

It could easily be a number of things.  It could be something simple like anxiety or even depression.  Not they are ever simple but usually just not as complex as many other mental disorders.

Your husband sounds like he is defensive (controlling and critical) with low self-esteem and lacks insight into his behavior or is in denial.

It could be a personality disorder but the symptoms, in my mind, don't really fit those of paranoia.  I think they could perhaps be better attributed to some other disorder.

If you have concerns you should try and encourage your husband to be evaluated by a psychiatrist (or a family doctor although a specialist is best).

Good luck.
