Can you talk about what is making you feel sad or depressed?  People in this community care about you.

#1 is remember you may be depressed now, but times will get better. I have had your issue many times and talked to my husband about it one day when he was going out and I was thinking about killing myself while he was gone and started crying when I thought of what he would come home to. He sat with me, and told me how it would break his heart but my family would miss me, and people would think he did it cuz I dont act depressed.  I thought he would react like I was crazy, I really did. He always looks down on people who have problems like that so I really thought he would leave me or something. You will have better days even knowing it doesnt feel like it.

I was hurt at work, not my fault, off work fighting with workesr comp 4 years had disc replaced in neck rotor cuff surgery and left shoulde dislocated, fell into major depression, not mt fault either, but then becme badly addicted to my pin meds oxy, percs, soma, and koloipin and started drink be 730am everyday MY FAULT, cant find a job that is phsicly fittig for me to do, not my fault do to past injury, So im going to make a long story short, I found a job, after one week got MRSA very high up on my leg on the inside, groin, worked 2 more weeks with it, got to where i couldnt walk been off work will be 2 weeks friday, again not my fault, but loosing my home , waiting for eviction notice, aint been able to make a payment in 4 months and no way to make one now, bank wants my car, keep telling me there coming to get it, just aint showed up yet, ele due to be shut off in less than a week, wife having major surgery on the 12th, and I could go on, went to DHHR for help i can get food stamps only, and a med card, that would not pay for the Cymbalta i was on, so they have messed with my meds for 3 months try'n to find something that will help.
Here is my point, my family can get more help from the DHHR without me, so I will be helping my family not hurting them, they coud get HUD, Food stamps med card, ADCC ckeck, wife cant work due to healt and waiting on didabiliy, Me being here is doing more harm than good, this may be the last house i ever live in, NO WAY OUT CEPT FOR A MIRLICAL waiting for it thats the only way wont get a check for over 2 weeks you get it

Firstly Kaylen,

These thoughts are telling you that you want to stop pain, generally depressive pain. But it could be other chronic pain if you have had an accident or suffer some other disease etc.

The thoughts aren't really about wanting to die, rather they are simply about wanting to stop the pain, wherever it comes from and whatever it is. Our minds can't find a solution so offer the only obvious way. Which is not what any of us wants.

What do you do? See a doctor, urgently. Given your age you will need to speak with your parents to get their support. If they are normal parents they will be both afraid and scared but equally want to do whatever it takes. Just say you think a doctor is best and you want to make an appointment.

A therapist is after you see a GP. The GP will try to diagnose your illness or symptoms and if necessary offer you a referral to a therapist etc.

I would urge you to not delay as these things develop if you wait and there is no need to wait. You know there's a problem, do whatever it takes to deal with it as catching it early is by far the best time to deal with it.

If parents are impossible to talk to, or even if they are part of the problem, then  another responsible relation would be the go. An aunt, elder sibling, anyone you trust really.

To Jeep,

No. Online counsellors are nowhere to be found really. The best advice you'll find is in forums like these, from other sufferers. There are many such forums you can join and ask or just read.

Giving up booze? AA is easily the best way to start but nothing will work unless you want to stop. If you still have the urge you won't stop.

I gave up 10 years ago now, overnight. Just decided I couldn't drink any more as I had become violent the night before. Hurt myself mostly but as I'd always been a happy drunk it shocked me enough to motivate me.

I never drank alone or at home though so it was relatively easy for me. I just stopped goinmg to where I used to. Didn't miss it a bit although I did have a lot of great times and friends during those years. Everything comes to an end though doesn't it?

SO your task is to decide if you are going to stop or not first and then find the way that suits you. Try AA as others there may be of great assistance in finding your way.

does anyone know a good online therapist for depression? I also have  suicidal thoughts daily, and they have been increasing the last couple months. I think it is related to the alcoholism somehow, because I had started drinking more just prior to that, and it seems the more I drink (I drink daily), the more severe the depression is the next following days. So, I have lost of problems. I hope to stop drinking as of right now. I have also been gaining a lot of weight (for me), and I had always been the perfect weight up till this last year. So I need help to quit alcohol, and help for depression and suicidal thoughts almost daily.

I get suicidal thoughts sometimes, too. I just think about all the people that would miss me and how much their life would suck because they would be upset all the time. There are people who deeply care about you, no matter what. Like lonewolf said, a compassionate therapist will do wonders. Also, maybe you could find something in your life to look forward too. Good luck and I hope you feel better! :)

I have had suicidal feelings ever since I can remember.  I've even tried to commit suicide.  A compassionate therapist might be able to help you.  Also, is it yourself you want to kill or the hurt and pain you are feeling?

Yeah.. You need to go talk to someone.. not neccesarily a therapist but someone close or someone who relates to how you feel. I find wen im feeling down i talk to my mom. shes my comfort. You just gotta remember NOTHING is worth hurting yourself over. and when you get these feelings just remember about all the people that love you and what you'd do to them if you left them..

im always here to talk if you need someone to confide in.. i've been there..

If you have suicidal ideations I would speak to your family if they are approachable and talk about making an appointment with a therapist. If they are not perhaps there is a counselor who can assist with the process. If they are realistic and you are concerned it would be best to call the appropriate hotline.
