changind antidepressants

I have been taking mirtazapine 37.5 mg for depression linked to parkinsons disease. I am unhappy at the weight gain and find that my anxiety is being helped but my depression is not lifting.  I am considering asking my Gp about switching to nortriptyline.  Is this a feasible idea?

I have been on citalapram, i didn't find it helpful but it wasn't bad either, but i was taking it for bipolar depression, which is kinda different to you, i gather. Everyone experiences different medication differently so ask your doctor and i am sure they will have a better idea on what would be good starting place for you.

thanks for your comment.  I read about nortriptyline online and it came out favourably in a recent US survey.  I am now considering going on to citalapram instead - any views on that!

you can always ask and discuss that with your doctor but at the end of the day it would be up to your doctor as they are the one prescribing. Any reason why you want to try nortriptyline?
