effexor withdrawal

I weaned off effexor 37.5 mg and stopped taking it 10 days ago. Then I went on Paxil for 5 days it didn't sit well so I stopped it,  I am now having horrible headaches, and I am very out of sorts. Is it possible to start withdrawal effects 10 days later?

I also decided to come off of Effexor, but my doctor didn't believe any of the massive amounts of information I got from reading forums of other people having the same withdrawal symptoms of it, so I am doing it on my own. I did a LOT of reading. (While I agree with the doctor that you can't always believe everything you read on the internet, hundreds of testimonials of saying the same things over and over can't all be wrong!) I READ that you can't wean from effexor, and I tested it out myself and found it to be true for ME, so I figured if it was this bad by just missing my low dose by an hour (!), I'd do it cold turkey, with the help of Benadryl Allergy 25 mg every 3-4 hours as needed and I discovered FOR ME, eating lots of sugar helped a lot. I gained a LITTLE bit of weight, but it really helps with the yucky "not quite right" feeling. I am doing MUCH better now, though I still have heat flashes every few hours; it's bearable. Good luck to you. :)

I am currently going through Effexor withdrawls, and it is awful. I weaned off for 10 days, and I just completed the third day completely off of it. I am feeling weird pressure in my head and eyes. I wake up several times a night with this same pressure and some anxiety. I also am experiencing very hot flashes. FUN stuff!! I refuse to get back on it, and I am going to try to not take anything. Hopefully I can manage because I don't like being dependent on meds. So I just try to continue my days as normal as possible, and am waiting out these withdrawls.

Hope I can manage my anxiety naturally, and good luck to those who are going through similar situations.

Oh yea for sure. You say the Paxil didn't sit well. Keep in mind that you were tapering off Effexor while simultaniously ramping up the Paxil.

It may not have been the Paxil that was causing the problem, but rather the withdrawl from the tapering of the Effexor that made you think it was the Paxil causing problems. Get what I mean?

Even during a med swap, withdrawls are still in effect. take it from me. I have swapped 14 different medications in my 17 year battle with depression. Med swaps still produce withdrawl, no doubt about it.

Efexor withdrawal can be a long and complex process. But it will ease.

Definitely  talkto your doctor...it is possible its side effects from going off the meds, I had the  terrible side effects from coming off effexor  and they told me to wait it out, 6 weeks Ispent in the house, lost my job and everything, finally i put yself back on it and the side effects went away......you might be very sensitive to the pills like me and have to wean off more slowly...how did you wean off?

Hi, is it only 5 days since stopping the Paxil?

It could well be withdrawal from both meds that are giving you severe headaches.  I know that after coming off depakote I suffered with severe migraines for about a month, that and bad dizzy spells.  If you are worried then it is worth mentioning it to your pdoc when you next go, or ringing and discussing it over the telephone.
