Depression from side effect?

Yes I know this is not a forum where experts will necessarily reply but maybe the other people can help me out.

I do have flare ups of depression every now and then. Though they seem to be sudden, and by that I mean in a hour or so, appearance.

Well for the past month or so I've been having nerve pain and yet I've haven't been depressed once. I've have screamed from pain and said I kill myself to family, but I never really meant it. It was just the pain being so bad at the time that I just had to say something.

Anyway, I've been playing this new computer game for the past week non-stop everyday no problem with interest in it. Then all of a sudden, I lose interest in not only the game, but it seems life in general. Not in killing my self, just not wanting to do anything. This happened a hour or two after taking one IC butal-apap-325-CAFF TAB MIK, and a IC hydrocondone-APAP- 5-500 TABLMCK.

Just wondering if anyone here has use the two, or even just one of them, and had a sudden lost of interest in doing anything, aka depression.

Thank you all that help.

And the lack of interest wasn't really lack of interest, as I WANT to play the game.

I Yet I just don't get that exictment from it. And it's not like this happened over a period of time, no it was sudden. And this happened a few hours after I took the meds. And I'm like that right now. But I feel.. mellowed or something. I just feel werid.

But I'm doing to do what I originally said and stop taking the meds for a few days and get some sleep. Hopefully that "fixes" it as I hate this feeling so much.

"Sounds to me like your symptoms are more likely to be a reaction to the amount of time you have spent on screen, it does affect you in some strange ways.
"

Think is I do this all the time and it doesn't affect me like this. And the lack of interest wasn't just with the game, it was with any game, watching TV, reading a book, doing anything. Not even wanting to sleep. And the change was in the middle of playing it, like within a few minutes I went from having a blast to not wanting to play that or anything else.

And eariler today I took some hdryocodone again and with in a few hours I felt the same way too. Yet when I first woke up I was all excited to work on my brothers computer and make him the new one I had bought with parts. Soon I just stop caring and felt really irraitable.

I think this might be the drug and the fact I woke up at 7:30am because of the pain. So I think I've been tired and with that drug I think that might be causing it. So I'll just take a few days break from the drug and deal with the pain and also get some more sleep.

But thanks to all for the responses. I've had flare ups of this like before but it usually once I wake up, etc.

OK, I hope u read this!!!!!   My friend on here took hydrocone( know not spelt right) but after she stopped taking it she started to suffer extremely badly from panic attacks and anxiety.... U said that an hour after taking the tablets ur mood changed drascially, well if i were u i would let ur doc know asap on this one, as it may be the drugs causing ur depression to return......

Her doc reckons that it changes the chemistry within the brain and can take upto a year for it to return to normal, so please chat to ur doc, i wouldn't want you to go through the hell my friend is..... cause she is suffering so much.

Sorry, I didn't answer your question.  The hydrocodone can cause anxiety, amd mood changes, and these 2 drugs are usually not prescribed together, as there are interactions. Hydrocodone is habit forming. Before assuming you have depression, go back to your doctor regarding the side affects, and insist on only being on one or the other.

The hydrocodone is a a very strong pain medication.  The butal-apap 325 caff is an analgesic, barbiturate, and stimulant normally used to treat migraines.  If you had only lost interest in the game, I would think you just gotten burned out playing it, but since you have no interest in life in general, you may well be depressed.  I don't think you had "episodes" of depression, just times when you realized it was there.  In actuality you've had it for awhile.  Most people with chronic on-going pain do become depressed, so talk to one of your parents about getting help, start with a psychiatrist as they are most knowlegeable.

Any time you are on medication check the label and info that comes with the medication for side affects, don't let them scare you, you just need to always be aware of what the side affects are.  If you ever have any questions about a medication, with meds in hand call your local drug store and ask to speak to the pharmacist, this is your best resource.

You didn't say where your pain is.

Hi Jon,

I have no idea what those tablets you are are, or what they are supposed to do. As such anything is possible. Ask the manufacturer as most here stick to prescribed meds or commonly used alternatives.

As to 1 hour depressions? I don't think so. It is not depression as depression is defined as being for a minimum of 2 weeks continuous.

Sounds to me like your symptoms are more likely to be a reaction to the amount of time you have spent on screen, it does affect you in some strange ways.

As to being "experts" and "other people" mate we are all "other people," including all docs when it comes to depression. They know as little as anyone else.

If I could limit my depression to 1 hour periods I'd be thrilled. As opposed to 10 year periods.

Review what you are putting in your mouth and the time you allocate to one thing.

Hmmm as I was typing this the pain has started to come back, oh yea I forgot to mention that during this sudden appearance the pain from my compressed nerves had all but disappeared and become a dull ache.

Now that pain is returning so is my interest somewhat I think, so I fear this question may have been too soon.

Anyway I would still like a answer if anyone has any ideas.
