Is that discharge from inpatient service or community based service? If it is inpatient then you will probably put you into community service team were you will see a psychologists, a social worker/ case manager and a psychiatrist. if if are in a mental health community service then i wouldn't think they would discharge you if you are still on medication, that's just my opinion because you will have to go back to get the prescription. if you are discharged it means you wont be going back and yes you would be expected to be able to look after yourself enough at home, and that you are feeling and doing better, it is a good thing if you agree that you are doing better, but if not i think you should discuss your concerns with your psychiatrist.

Hope that helps.

Hi Michelle

Yes i bet the having to go through court to fight for your son is incredibly stressful and i hope i never have to go through that. Are  you happy with the discharge? Is good you will have follows up and meds through your GP, which means you are not completely alone and if something is to go wrong and you have a crisis your GP would be your best bet to get back into the mental health clinic.

Hope your court stuff goes well.

Have you got family, friends to help you get through this. I think you need to get the most support around you possible. I can't imagine how hard this would be for you and my heart truly goes out to you. I am always here if you want to talk. Us kiwis have got to stick together :).
