Alopecia Frustration

Dear Dr.
I have a spot of alopecia on my face. It has been around for several months. It is right on the area of my chin, which makes it very noticable. My Dermatogist tried cortisone cream, then oral prednisone, the after some reluctance, kenalog injections. He said he was hesitant about the kenalog because it may cause my skin to thin out. My queation is if my skin does thin out, is it permant? Also is kenalog effective in treating this condition? And give me your opinion on his use of the prednisone.
                                                         Thanks,
                                                              Robertsmw

On 16 july 2013 i was attacked by some hoodlums leaving a big deep cut on my chicks that was stitched. 6weeks after the stithes it began to grow an ugly hypertropic scar. A kenalog injection was given to me on the tenth week. Presently it is not showing any sign of atrophy but lumps on some place that it was injected and it is becoming harder by the day. Pls advice should i still continue with kenagog injection or should i discontinue
