yeast rash question

Ok I had a similar problem around a year ago.  I shaved my scrotum and inner thighs with an electric razor. 2 days later after works I noticed the area of skin on my thighy, where the scrotum rests was red and bumpy. On the other side as well. Over the next few days the rash never really expanded and was contained to the groin fold ann inner thigh.  I let this go for about a week. The rash took on the appearence of tiny white heads.  When I went to the dermatologist he took one look and said that's a yeast rash. He prescribed me a keto- something antifungal cream. I applied this cream for about a week and a half now. The rash is almost non noticable.  You can see some discoloration that's about it.  i read on numerous sites to continue applying the antifungal cream for 2 weeks once the rash dissapears.   My question is am I at that stage now? Or do I have to wait until I can see absolutly no discoloration from the rash to begin my 2 weeks?

Thank you for the response Dr. Santos.   I applied the cream until  Nov 28th.   I used it for 3 weeks.   I can no longer see any signs of the rash and am making sure to keep the area dry.   On the prescription it directed to use the cream for 2 weeks however I went three.

I have one more question if you dont mind.   Why has this problem just recently started ?  In my younger days I spent days training in Jungles, with no ability to shower or clean and was covered in sweat.   I never once had any type of fungal infection.  I am not over weight.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? Yeast or fungal infection usually requires longer treatment. For how long would depend on the evaluation of your doctor. However, it is recommended that you take the medication as prescribed by your dermatologist. Keep the area clean and dry. Take care and do keep us posted.
