Nitrogen Spray for minor skin growth

I went to the dermatologist with several concerns about spots on skin.  I also mentioned a very tiny growth on my right index finger. Some time ago another derm renmoved it with a scalpel and said it might return.  It did but really insignificant.  Yesterday another dermatologist suggested spraying liquid nitrogen.  He sprayed twice from the container.  Shortly later a blister apperared. Within a couple of hours the blister grew considerably,  Was this treatment appropriate for something so minor?  I must write extensively for my work, now harder to do with the blister.  The doctor did not inform me of side effects.  Had I known, I'd never have agreed.  Anyway is this procedure appropriate and how long until the blister has resolved itself.  Thanks.
