Undiagnosed facial rash (with pic)

Hi All,

So I have this recurrent facial rash which has been given about five different diagnoses. Basically, it starts with itchy flaky skin before progressing to what you see in the photos (although thankfully not often as bad as this). I can't seem to link it to anything in particular.

Any advice or help much appreciated.

Thanks for the advice. Yes I should have mentioned, I have been tested for lupus three times, always a negative result. Also tested for gluten sensitivity and negative. I am full off gluten now, but no change.

Hmmm. Rosacea has been one of the probably diagnosis made. Along with various other kinds of dermatitis. The metronidazole rosacea cream did very little for the rash, so I kind of ruled out rosacea as a problem.

It looks like the typical butterfly rash of lupus.  There are blood tests.  The second most likely dx would be rosacea.  You might want to get tested for Celiac disease as both of these can be associated with Celiac, and if you have that, eating gluten free might clear this rash up.
