I've had a few tiny white spots (almost the size of my freckles -- varying in size, but generally about half a cm or so) on both arms for years (probably elsewhere, as well), and I didn't notice that they itched until today -- I felt an itch, and I went to scratch, and noticed that it was one of these white spots, and when I scratched, it seemed to tear easily, and left a hole about a few mm deep.
What is this, and how do I deal with it? Is it an external sign of an internal problem; or solely external?
Thanks.
These white spots can be due to idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis but if they are itching and then leaving small pits as well then they should be examined at the earliest. A dermascopy examination and biopsy skin should be done to confirm the diagnosis.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
