Hello,
Yes dandruff can cause temporary hair loss but not to such an extent. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help. The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Also i don't have trichotillomania i just pluck my hair lines because i want to remove unwanted hairs and to make my hairline more defined and cleaned up not because i do it from nervousness or psychological purposes at all
I also have lots of dandruff from wearing a hat. can dandruff cause temporary hair loss? and is head and shoulders shampoo good or bad for the hair. i heard that its too rough for hair
Hello,
Voluntary pulling of hair from the head is called trichotillomania. It is hair loss from repeated urges to pull or twist the hair until it breaks off. The hair may come out in round patches or across the scalp. However it does not cause receding hair line from front. A piece of tissue may be removed (biopsy) to rule out other causes, such as a scalp infection, and to explain the hair loss.

And also i used to pluck some strands from my hairline so i was wondering if this can effect hair loss from the back also, even though i never pluck the back just the hairline. would my hair possibly think that im going through an m shaped baldness because it programmed to? my hair from the front grows back even after plucking. thank u again
hi i dont have an M shaped pattern baldness because my from is full of hair i dont have receading hair line at all. I started wearing my hat less months ago and i noticed that i dont have any bald spots and my hair was much better but when i found out that i grew my hair back fully i started wearing a hat again and their fore the problem started again. I'm goimg to try to stop wearing hats so often.
Hello,
It looks like male pattern baldness to me rather than hair loss due to wearing caps. Male pattern baldness or Androgenic alopecia is a common form of hair loss and typically occurs in M shaped pattern.
Men who have this type of hair loss usually have inherited the trait. Other causes may be use of some drugs, infections and underlying disease, such as lupus or diabetes. A biopsy (taking a small sample of cells to examine under a microscope) of your scalp may be needed to establish the correct diagnosis.
Depending on your type of hair loss, treatments are available. Medicines which are useful are minoxidil and finasteride. Finally one can resort to hair transplantation also.
