intense itching legs

After i shave my legs my legs become extremely itchy to the point where i itch myself till i bleed. if i try to ignore the itch then my hands start shaking and my legs start to twitch to the point where i have to itch them. If i do itch them then it makes it 100% worse. The itching gets worse when i use shaving creams so i just use the razor intuition sensitive skin when im in the shower with the water running on my legs in the process. I dont break out in a rash and it only happens on my legs but i cant take the itch anymore.I dont know why this happens.. anyone got any ideas? or how to get rid of this?

Hi I just googled this because I have this problem all the sudden.  It is a Crazy! itch, nand I have bruised my legs and have drawn blood many times.  There is no rash-just such an intense itch, that I would rather have extreme acute pain than this feeling.  I have shaved my legs everyday for at least 40 yrs.  I have started using a sugar scrub after shaving to leave more moisture than lotion alone does.  Also I have stopped using my favorite lotions that have fragrance to try to rid the itch. I am using "Curel", after trying "Jergen" and "Dove".  I was using Bath and Body Works and have used that for at least the last 20 yrs.  Years ago I had the same kind of problem when I became allergic to an deodorant I had used for years.  I went to the dermatologist for that, and I my ANA had become really crazy.  I have R.A., as well as Anklosing Spondilitis.  (SP) Not sure if this could "inflamed" skin-as well as my spine and every joint! in body.  Jeez it gets old-but I am just thankful I am here to complain!  This latest crazy symptom began right after Knee replacement surgery three months ago.  Any  idea's, or too much information (I have been accused of that before!:-0)

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Hello,
This intense itching on legs can be due to contact dermatitis or allergy to the shaving cream or due to small irritated hair follicles. After shaving, apply cold compresses (ice cubes wrapped in a towel) on the rash and take some antihistaminic like Benadryl or claritin. You can also apply calamine lotion on the rash. It will help in soothing the skin. A mild corticosteroid cream like dermacort will also help.

Also you can go in for laser hair removal which causes permanent reduction of hair and does not cause folliculitis also. Please consult a good cosmetologist/dermatologist for that.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
