Hello,
Biopsy is the medical removal of tissue from a living subject which is then observed under a microscope. Depending on the thickness of skin involved, it is of various types like shave biopsy, punch biopsy, excisional biopsy, incisional biopsy and curettage biopsy. The dermatologist decides how much sample is required for a diagnosis.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination and the symptoms are not very discreet enough. If it is hypopigmented white patches, then a biopsy needs to be done to rule out any vitiligo( it is non itchy). Also lichen simplex chronicus and atopic dermatitis needs to be ruled out. I would suggest you to get a diagnosis confirmed first after getting a biopsy done and then starting the treatment.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
