If you had head lice, you sometimes would find a little bug, but also would see white sugar looking grains on your hair near the scalp.  These are called nits - these are the eggs of the head lice.

The flaky skin that you have coming down and falling on to your clothes, like Jessjess2014 says is called dandruff.

This can sometimes be caused by a fungal infection on the head.  To treat this you would need a shampoo that also has antifungal properties.  Your doctor would be able to prescribe a specific shampoo for you.  Or you can purchase from the pharmacy, without a prescription, a shampoo that will treat the dandruff and any fungal infection that is causing it.

Always read the directions carefully how to use those shampoos.

Normal dandruff is caused by a dry scalp.  At home to help moisturise the scalp you can rub some baby oil or coconut oil.  Coconut oil has antibacterial, antifungal and anti viral properties.  Best to get the virgin coconut oil.  If you try treating your scalp with the oils, leave it on for as long as possible, or overnight and then wash your hair as normal.

The family shampoo that you are using may not be suitable for your scalp.  It may bee too harsh.  Once you have the condition under control, use a more gentle shampoo for your hair type - you may be better off using the baby shampoo - nothing to be embarrassed about.

It's called dandruff, The white flakes are dead skin. Try head and shoulders shampoo and conditioner and scrub your head every time you shower
