5 days and already getting frustrated!

I've been doing good since Saturday and havent messed up my diet once but today my husband was off work and apparently I associate him with food bc as soon as I realized he was off, I was already thinking about what we were going to eat. When he is gone, Im completely fine, but now that he's home I want to go out to eat, or order in...and its all unhealthy! Why is it that I can do this when he's gone, but when he's here I want to give up? Maybe its bc he's not on the diet and I am? Plus this morning when I got ready I expected him to physically notice that I had been dieting for 5 days (lol) and of course, him being the man he is, he said nothing. UGH! I still dont want to give up but today is the first day I have missed cheeseburgers and pizza. :(

Do yall have a cheat day? I was thinking I should give myself one a week but if I gain weight from that one day, Im going to be super irritated. It wont be so bad if I stay the same, but gaining would send me over the edge at this point.

I forgot to mention, Denise Austin claims to have a cheat day on the weekends too. Don't know if she just says that to make her audience feel better or not, but she does advocate it splurging a little so you don't go nuts.

give yourself the one cheat day! its really ok and yes you may be higher in weight the next day but it only last 1-2 days and just like water weight its off! it has always helped me to have just one time i can relax and order what i like! as far as the hubby i know my DH is the same!  do what i do go online to that place and figure out whats healthier for you to eat then you ll be prepared get that and let the hubby have whatever he wants! and you can have a cheeseburger check out wendys online menu the double cheese burger for the 2.99 combo is not that high in calories!! order just it or as a combo do the orange slices or the chilli its the least believe or not then a diet coke and your set! you dont go overboard and you still get good food to fill you up!

I have the same issue with my husband because he is an electrician so he gets exercise all day long and can eat pretty much anything he wants to and it does not show on him at all. No fair. Me? I have an office job and I just look at food and put on the weight.

Ever since we got together 15-16 years ago, hubby & I have always shared snacks and treats and meals, etc, when we are together. I totally and completely know what you mean Karen! I was in the same boat!

Its only since January that my oldest daughter and I have seriously made food changes and for the first time ever I have been sticking to a plan. I am doing the "lifestyle change" so in general its about healthier choices all the time. This past week was particularly difficult because we had house guests who came for hubby's birthday. So there were snacks and cake and eating out, etc, all week. Finding healthier choices in the food court of the mall was  tricky especially when hubby wants burgers and fries... but I managed to find something healthier.  All weekend long I took 1/4 - 1/2 of the snack size that I usually would take so hubby and I were still having the same treats, etc, but I was just taking a smaller portion.  At nights now when hubby grabs the chips I will usually opt for fruit or veggies and it is getting easier all the time. Sometimes I will take a small dessert bowl and fill that with a few of my healthier lower calorie chips and that way the bag stays in the kitchen cupboard and not on my lap! Its getting easier all the time and healthier choices is becoming second nature.

I am happy to say that even with having hubby home all weekend, the birthday party with all its treats, and having house guests, my weigh-scale didn't scream at me this morning! So, having a few treats here and there along with eating healthier most of the time is OK!

Actually my husband & I have a day off once a week. ^_^ We don't binge, but we don't count the points either (we are doing Weight Watchers together). We are starting to find that even though it's our off day, we are making healthier choices anyways & eating less. Find yourself a weight loss buddy!

Find yourself a weight loss buddy! It's hard to go it alone. I went through the same thing with my husband years ago after my first kid. I dieted & he didn't because he was so skinny at the time. He was very encouraging, but eventually I just stopped bothering. Now eating better is a family choice & it has been way easier. We intend to give ourselves the best chance at the "in health" part of our vows!

I've never tried weight watchers. I was thinking about Jenny Craig but I think all of those are probably too expensive for me and Kirstie Alley isnt exactly the type of yo-yo example I want to follow lol.

My husband is the same way about meat and potatoes. He can eat fast food all the time non stop and he maintains his weight. It really irritates me!

He is a little bit over weight but not considered obese I dont think. He also gets a lot more exercise at work bc he is a refinery worker.

He is encouraging for me to not give up, but its so hard.

I was thinking about the food issue, and its kind of like an addiction, like a drug or alcohol addiction!

Its wierd bc when I was younger and single I would go out to the clubs all the time and drink and party, and then one day I decided I didnt want to spend anymore money on alcohol, and I NEVER did again.

Then I was a smoker and decided that it was kind of pointless, so I quit, and never had one again (until way later and I will still have one occasionally bc my husband smokes), but the point is, all of these things that people have major problems with, I could put down and never think about it again...and food? That is like the stupidest thing ever!

Maybe I should try hypnotism, lol. I could play one of those quit smoking tapes in the car except it would have to be on quitting food and it would have to be a CD bc tapes dont exist anymore. Its really actually pathetic.

I do sorta cheat on weekends, LoL.  I'm not really trying a particular diet anyway, just trying to make better food choices overall.  Like water instead of soda, strawberries instead of a brownie, Healthy CHoice meals for lunch instead of cafeteria food, etc.  On the weekends, I often do out to eat after church and I don't go crazy, but I do order something other than a salad and water, LoL!

I agree that hubbies can definitely be a hindrance to a diet; the meal I feel like I have no control over is the one I eat with him-- dinner. DH is a meat and potatoes guy, and besides making two different meals, I pretty much have no choice but to eat what he eats (especially since he usually cooks.)  Tonight wasn't too bad, we had chicken gorditas and black beans, but its never exactly low-fat or low-cal.  What I am trying to do is have a Healthy Choice or Smart Ones meal in place of the dinner he makes at least 1-2 times per week.  I really like those meals, so that's not a problem, and I explained to DH that's it's no offense to him or his cooking, just that i have to lose some weight!!!  I still sit at the table and eat with everyone else, I just have something different.

Have you ever done Weight Watchers?  I tried it on-line once (too expensive for me), and one of the things I liked was how you get a certain # of points each day, plus an extra number each week.  So you can either spread them out of each day for a small treat, or have one "splurge" day each week.
