She's Not Eating, Drinking Lots of Water

My 8-year Rott/Akita mix slowed down eating last Thursday.  I had brushed her teeth with a new dog toothpaste (Denta Clean Mint) the previous day.  Over the weekend, I noticed she had slowed down eating and was not as active.  I took her to the vet Monday for her annual checkup (amazingly she perked up), so I thought all was fine.  The next day, she was somewhat out of it (I figured from the shots she received).  Now she hardly will eat anything (from steak to chicken, you name it) and she drinks alot of water.  I took a suggestion from another site, to give her a couple teaspoons of honey (to help her with her energy level, not eating).  She perked up a bit this morning, but I'm sure there is more going on.  I will be taking her to the vet today at 2 PM EST but I was wondering ....

Has anyone else had a problem with this type of toothpaste?  Could it be bad on her tummy?  My Rott didn't seem to have any problem with it, but then again he seems to be able to eat anything (he's Lexies' father and he is nine years old).  I am scared outta my wits, after reading some of the other symptoms.

How's your rottie doing?  My first thought having seen these symptoms in my dog, is kidney trouble.  Did your vet do a urine test and any blood work to check kidney function?

I thought it might be pyometra as I read this. I do wish her well, I hope the surgery goes OK for her. Believe me, it is WELL worth it. That is a great thing to swap for your Christmas and birthday present. I do the same every Christmas. My aunt gives me some money, and I immediately spend it on my dog's annual check-up and booster shots!
Pyometra doesn't have to be the end of the world, so long as she is treated quickly (which you did) I hope things go well. Please do post back and let us know....if you have time.

My baby has "Pyometra" ... she is having emergency surgery as I type.

Hubby is not happy with the $1300 bill, but there goes my Christmas and Birthday present.  She is my baby and I was not about to let her suffer anymore.
