Sarah, yes Margot is right, you may well have a pregnant
dog,MARK THE CALANDER 2 weeks back but if it was
a bit over 2 weeks she would still be swollen but IF NOT
pregnant there would be at almost 3 weeks a darker dis-
charge (getting a darker red) as she would be going out
of season.A dog bleeds red blood coming in for the first
week,it goes to a lighter pink to straw color when she is
ready to breed and IF NOT bred then going out in the
3rd week it will turn back to bright red.
YES the vulva ( the area where she goes pee) would still
be very swollen after she is 3 weeks into her heat cycle.
You need to be prepared,I bred and raised dogs for
many years ( as has Margot) when my pups were born I
was up every 3 hours to be sure the smaller puppies all
were put on a nipple first, only after this did the other,big-
ger puppies nurse.I did this day and night fpr the first 2
weeks until the smaller puppies got strong enough to
push their way in to nurse. AS THE OWNER OF THIS
FEMALE this is what responcible owners do when they
allow a male and female to breed.
IF you knew you had a female in heat, the males should
have been contained in a crate when you were not there
to supervise but you know this now.( if you do NOT want
a female bred, lock up/crate the female or the males if you
are not home)
Margo is also correct,if you have intact males and a female
in your home, these are companions and pets they should
be altered. I will go further and add that IF you do not know
about the basics of breeding, know what is coming for your
dam( female) by allowing this breeding to take place, what
to expect with this little girl you best DO SOME READING
TO EDUCATED YOURSELF NOW BEFORE AND IF YOU
HAVE PUPPIES COMING.
This sounds like this is a "first time" breeding for you so,you
need to learn about dog litters and all the things that can now
happen over the next 61 to 63 days.
I UNDERSTAND that "things happen" BUT now you really
need to get yourself prepared and read,if there is someone
you know who has raised litters before, ask them for their
advice and guidenceask if they can be there to assist in
the delivery if puppies are in fact on the way.
There are going to be costs involved, the least of which is the
worming, vaccinations and keeping puppies until they are 12
weeks old, pups need the time to learn from their dam and to
become socialized with the other puppies in this litter; 6 to 7
weeks old is NOT the time to place a puppy in a new home.
IF she is pregnant(?) YOU JUST BECAME A BREEDER so
responcible breeders always do their very best for each pup
they produce,as well as for the mother,BE A GOOD BREEER.
I hope things work out and your mom has a good delivery,
the puppies ( IF she is infact pregnant) are all healthy and
NOW would be a good time to neuter the males, even if the
female is pregnant. NOT neutered you will be looking at
another possible breeding of this female 5-1/2 to 6 months
AFTER THIS BREEDING...when she comes into season
again...you did not say but I hope this female is over 10 to
11 months old?
Once the puppies are 3 months of age, please spay the mother.
I wish you every good out come possible should she be
pregnant.

If someone is going to keep intact animals, you have to be vigilant or, yes, you can have an unplanned litter. Whether she is pregnant or not now, she certainly may end up that way in the future. Please get them all fixed.
Aside from that, the same rules don't necessarily apply to all animals. It may be too early for her nipples to be enlarged. If you squeeze them, dies anything come out? Turn her over and see if her vulva looks swollen and there may be a bit of a discharge, milky or straw colored. Has she gone off her food at all? These all may be signs that she is pregnant. Gestation is on average 63 days so if you suspect a date, Mark your calendar! Other then that, you may have to take her to the Vet to be checked. Having a litter if pups can be a lot of work and a big responsibility.
