Distemper side effects...twitching

I have a lab/sheppard female puppy (8 weeks old) who had distemper but now is shakey on her feet and twitches a lot.  There were 12 in the litter and the rest died.  She is the sole survivor.   Most of the others died over 3 weeks ago.  She sleeps more than usual, but has an appetite and plays well.  When she walks, she walks a bit crooked (like she is drunk) but she has a twitch in her eye and front paw that twitches all the time.  When she is in a deep sleep, it seems to almost disapear.  Will it get worse or stay the same? Is there anything I can give her?

Distemper can leave a dog with neurological deficits.  Contrary to what some people believe, it is not just a disease that causes a dog to have runny eyes and a congested nose.  It has about a 75% mortality rate and dogs that do survive can be left with permanent vision problems, nervous system damage, and severe damage to the enamel on their teeth.

I would have the puppy examined by the vet to determine the degree of damage caused by the distemper just so you know what you are facing along the road ahead with her.

Distemper can cause nervous system degeneration. I suggest you take the pup to a Vet for evaluation.
