Hi can anyone help.... still shocked!.... my maltese dog was abt 10 years. He was not sick at all. Yest afternoon we notice he was drinking alots of water and when he sat he was just peeing. Took him to vet n they said his temp was very low, looking pale. They did a blood smear n it showed no signs of infection. He died before they could take any more bloods for testing. N im so confused/ shocked. How can healthy dog just died??
From the way you described him, he really was not healthy. kYou mentioned that he was drinking a lot of water and that he would urinate while he was just sitting there. It sounds to me like he was in complete kidney failure. You also said that he was pale, which, depending on the degree of paleness, could indicate an internal bleed, which could be a sign of cancer or of a tumor that had ruptured.
The only way to tell for sure what it was that killed your dog is for your vet to perform a necropsy. Your vet MAY be able to hazard a pretty good guess as to what the problem was from the results of the bloodwork, but for an exact diagnosis its best to have the necropsy.
Once again, I am sorry for your loss.
