That's good news. If the Vet suspects this may be chronic, like my daughter's dig, I suggest you speak to him about diet.
Good luck
Hi
Glad he is back to normal for you. Our fingers, toes etc are all crossed for the same outcome.
UPDATE: We went to vet to check on him, and we found him tied up in front of the vet station, just chilling on warm sun and he was happy to see us! He acted more like himself, wiggled his little tail and when we took him for walk around vet station he walked normally (no hunched back and tense stomach), so I'm quite happy now! Vet said it was pancreas inflammation, which pressured his intestines and enlarged prostate pressed a bit his colon so that was the reason he couldn't poop. Of course he also said this issue might happen again sometimes in the future again, but at least we know what was the problem! His with sis now, she went to the country side for a day so he's going to enjoy outside a lot, and vet suggested strongly we bring him back for one more night of therapy, but for today, he let him go so he could enjoy himself with us.
I hope so too, can't wait to see him tomorrow. This is first time happening to him in these 12 years, I hope he recovers!
Vet suspects it's pancreas, apparently it's irritated and it's pressing on his stomach. But my dog is still not home, and we didn't get further information. I'll probably go tomorrow to vet with sis, first thing in the morning.
Wow, surprised the Vet didn't run blood work. That may have indicated a pancreas problem also and if he us tender, that may be the case and it has to be treated aggressively. If he got into something, that could cause pancreas inflammation, which is very painful.
Hope they can figure it out and all goes well.
Please update.
He didn't do blood work yet, however we left him today at vet for x-ray of his abdomen. He's stomach is really tense and when vet touched him there he whimpered which gave him an idea that it's problem with stomach/intestines. I'm not sure what sort of antibiotic gave him but it was probably something that's supposed to help with the stomach. My mom (who's nurse) thinks it's pancreatitis. And Renisan is simply medicine that helps relieve pain in stomach, my sis takes it occassionaly since she has problem with digesting heavy food.
In beginning we thought our dog was trying to puke out thing that made him uncomfortable (he was gnawing cartilage part of the bone, so we thought he swallowed bigger part), but we are not sure anymore.
We are all waiting for a call from vet, can't say I'm happiest flower in the field. :(
I assume your Vet did blood work to check kidney and liver function? That would give him some idea of what might be going on. Since your dog is older, could be any number of things. What was the reason for the antibiotics?
I am not familiar with Renisan and don't have time to look it up now. Hiw long are not supposed to feed him? Any chance he got into something to make him sick?
Sorry, not much I can add at this point.
Hope your dog recovers also.
