It's very possible that your dog had an aneurysm. A blood vessel may have burst in his brain causing the blindness and then death. A tumor would have caused much the same symptoms too. Unfortunately, while you may never know for certain why or what happened, you can be fairly sure there wasn't too much you could have done to prevent it. I am very sorry for your loss. Tony

He had the start of Cataracs up to the day he went blind his eyes were clear it was like an over night thing. But two days before that when I walked him he stayed at my side. usually he would walk in front of me so I could tell something was wrong. 9 days after he went blind he died. Don't no why..he was my buddy always with me. He liked to ride in my SUV.  NOW my rides are lonely and I'm lost....  :'(

I read you dog went blind sometime in the past, what was the cause?  I take it the blindness was not the driver of his death, but I again take it, he was eating after going blind.

Our Westie suffers from dry eye, and I have an eye ointment that has to be applied twice a day, or the vet says, he will go blind.  Did you dog suffer any eye problems before going blind?
