Min Pin

My min pin died tonight.  I was wondering if someone could tell me why he died.  I took him to the vet about 11 days ago, because he was urinating a dark red color like blood.  The doctor did blood test on him and said that he was slightly anemic, and that he had a bacterial infection.  He gave me an antibiotic him and said bring him back in two weeks when he had finished the medicine.  This morning when I got off work he was walking real slow (the dog, not the vet) Like when your body aches from being sick.  He also was taking real short fast breaths.  I planned on taking him back to the vet tommorow morning when I got off work.  He died with a little blood coming out of his mouth.  Also his urine just seemed to only get darker while he was taking the medicine.  Can anyone give me any answers?

First of all I am sorry your dog died, poor little thing. And obviously you did your very best to help him. It is very sad, and I know how you must be feeling.

Maybe there were two things going on. Two completely separate problems. To be passing dark urine like that, he must have been excreting blood cells in his urine. This could possibly have been Haemolytic Anaemia. This can be inherited.
But the vet seemed to be focussed mainly on the bacterial infection.....It does baffle me a bit. Antibiotics are not going to cure Haemolytic Anaemia, if it was that!

You did your best, I am so sorry things turned out like they did.
