My dog Tyson

I had two brother german shepherd dogs.  Tyson started having minor fits about 2 months ago, i kept taking him to the vet who was doing nothing about it, she finally gave him a blood test to check his liver, kidneys etc ehich came back normal.  his fits were every 2 weeks, after about the 6th fit the vet diagnoised him with epelepsy this was on friday but did not have the medicine in her surgery so we would of had to wait till tuesday.  in the vet his lip started twitching, the vet thought nothing of it.  it continued when i wentn home. then he started to look scared of soethin when there was nothing there.  he started to take mini fits so i phoned the emergency vet and were made to travel 30miles to an a and e for pets.  he continues to take fits some worse than others, on the way up he died in my arms? was it my fault he died cause i never picked up on it earlier.  He was only 17 months old.

I am so sorry for your loss, it is heartbreaking.  There are some bloodlines that the american type breeders are breeding that are known for epilipsy, and NO it was not your fault!!

Bless your heart!  What a terrible and tragic thing for you both.  :-(  In no way was your pup's death you fault.  Something was obviously very, very wrong and even if you'd had a diagnosis of a particular disease process, there may have been no treatment to help it.  Your vet maybe could have taken the symptoms a bit more seriously, but from what you write here, they were mild enough that they didn't indicate immiment death.

I agree with Helmore - sometimes bad things happen, and there just aren't any good answers.  Please try not to torture yourself.  You sound like a fabulous and very loving dog owner, and I hope you will one day be able to get past this awful experience and provide a home for another very lucky pup.  :-)
