My dog had a seizure tonight

This evening my dog had what I think might have been a seizure. My daughter called me into the room to tell me that Willow had thrown up. I walked into the room to see him laying down with vomit all over him and his legs were jerking and his head and mouth. I ran to get a wet washcloth and came back and he was struggling to get up. He finally managed to pull himself up and stand. I grabbed him up, put a towel around him and drove him to my vet. As I was carrying him in he peed all down my pant legs. Unfortunately, the vet office was closing and referred me to an emergency clinic. Since it didn't open for another hour and a half (it's only open at night after the vet clinics close), I took him home and gave him a bath. He looked awful with vomit all over him. After cleaning him up (and me), I took him to the ER vet.
They ran some blood work and said that everything looked pretty normal except his kidneys were just a little abnormal. He thinks it's because he has Cushings and that the tumor must be pressing on the pituitary gland more and pumping out more steroids into his body possibly causing a little bleeding into his GI tract. I told him I haven't seen blood in his BM's but he recommended him to take Pepcid every day anyway.
Other than that he thinks the seizure is probably just proof that Willow's nearing the end but that he doesn't know how long that could be.
Is there anyone else out there familiar with Cushings? Is this what I should expect then? And will it just get worse and worse? I don't want him to suffer. He's already gone down hill this last year, in particular these last few months in that he's been peeing in the house a lot, drinking a lot and barking at everything. I think that's because he can't see very well anymore. He's also struggling more with stairs and his back legs will give out sometimes.

The vet says this is all just signs that he's nearing the end. So I guess I just have to watch him and decide when he can no longer enjoy life. I don't want my dog to suffer. I felt so bad for him tonight. I just don't know what else to do.

Very sorry, these times are very hard and scary.  My dog has had Cushings for maybe years.  At the end of December she had a seizure the lasted very long.  Last night and the night before she had short lasting seizures, maybe 15 minutes.  For some reason I think we will be able to enjoy the summer together.  I’ll never know whether the tumor is growing fast or slow.  I just feel we will enjoy the summer together.   So…maybe you will see some more good days, CHERISH the moment!  We all are born magically and will die magically. We may have hard choices to make, but you will always have love and compassion to guide you.  Love and compassion to share with your dog.

I wish I knew what to tell you, but I don't know much about it, either.  It does sound like things are getting worse.

He'll tell you when its time.  You'll suddenly know.  The key is, to heed what he says, when he says it.

Many hugs,
Peek

I'm sorry your dog is having such a hard time.   I don't know anything about Cushings so I can't help you.    I was appalled to read that your vet referred you somewhere else because
they were closing for the night.    We have had emergencies over the years and never once
have they sent us on our way when we would arrive at closing time.
