What should I look for?

Hello,

My 9-year-old Terrier mix was diagnosed with high-grade, aggressive lymphoma in mid-October. We brought him to a specialist, and after looking at the financials, quality of life and the pros and cons, we opted to go with the prednisone treatment. He was given 4-6 months, and from the time we discovered the lump to being able to get in to see the Vet and the specialist, it's definitely been close to if not over 4 months.

He's been taking the steroid now for 2-3 months and the only difference we see is the weight gain and increased water consumption. Other than that, he's still his crazy self. Even at 9 years old he still jumps and plays and greets everyone, like he's still a puppy.

I guess what I'm wondering is how fast does the deterioration happen? I know it's probably different for each pet, but I want to know what to look for and be able to prepare myself and my family for what's coming. Can anyone offer some insight or past experiences?
