Rabies shots at 13?

My dog is a 13 year old border collie/lab mix, who is due for a rabies shot this summer.  We live out in the country, but she doesn't leave the immediate yard for anything, because of her age.  Is it safe for a dog that age to still get rabies shots?  She has always had them every three years, but now I read that the actual vaccine last a lot longer than the three years that is claimed.

Thanks, I really think I'm going to skip the shots. Shes in good shape except for arthritis, and I'd like to keep it that way.  Is she too old to start her on Glucosamine?

At that age and if the dog is at low risk, I would not do the vaccine.

Every year there is probably one or two cases of rabies in a 30 mile radius.

Its a law here, but since we moved the dog license bureau doesn't know where we are now, so I haven't renewed her license, and won't be forced to get the rabies shot.  The only problem I can forsee is the vet, they give me a hard time because I won't give my cats, especially the old ones, rabies and other shots.  I'm sure they will  give me a harder time for the dog, because she does go outside, even though shes with us or just hangs very near the house.

No, I would not do the vaccine either.  I know my own Vet would not advise it.
