Just another heads up

Was talking to a friend the other day and heard another story of a dog being suffocated getting it's head stuck inside a box.  This is at least the 5th one I have heard like this over the years of dogs getting into cereal boxes, cracker boxes, etc.  they try to get food out of the box, get their heads stuck and usually are suffocated by the box liner.
Good idea not to leave those things out, even on counters if you have a potential counter surfer.

I never gave it a second thought either until I heard the first story some years ago.  Family went to church and breakfast cereal box was left out.  Came home to fond the dog suffocated.  Put it's head inside the box, got stuck and inhaling caused the plastic liner to suffocate the dog.

Thank you Margot, for this. Boxes are something we might not think of as being dangerous.
What a horrific thing to happen.
Counter-surfing is always dangerous....so easy for them to get hold of food possibly toxic for dogs such as raisins or avocadoes, etc. And always the possibility of falling knives!
