a dog question

Hello I have A   dog that seems to be allergic to everything.Anything that has wheat or corn glutin in it.So we feed her special expensive dog foods.But every now and then theres something in the air that blows in with it attaches a skin allergy like hives.Is there anything i can use for these irratations that is over the counter to help her with her skin problems when they arrise.Or is there anything i can give her to keep this from happening in the first place.Just a thought mabey someone might know the answer to help me out.Thanks in advance for any help you have to offer

I use Atopica for my bulldog.We tried everything in the past,Benadryl ,steroids, special foods,etc .He has done really well with it.You could ask your vet about it.Good luck,Let us know how she is doing.

I happen to come upon an article yesterday in regard to allergies and it mentions the possibilities of a long history of allergens in the environment that may have brought on an overactive defense system. The idea being to scrutinize the environment for allergens, say like carpets and toxic everyday products and of course to eliminate such.

I would avoid over the counter meds, they can be so toxic and lead to problems down the time line, that is unless they are prescribed by a vet. Something about the immune system has gone hay wire and I hope you find a holistic, systemic approach. Best to you, om.

my dog had allergies to everything as well.when she got real itchy i gave her benedryl

I don't know of anything you could use, but if you click on Forum on top of this page, and then scroll down to AsK a Vet, click on that and post your question.  It might take a few days, but they have good answers.
